About this game

ENYO is a tactical roguelike about hook & shield combat.

Grab your hook & shield and descent as Enyo, the greek goddess of war, into an ever changing labyrinth to recover 3 legendary artifacts.

ENYO's gameplay is based on the idea of indirect combat. Enemies can only be defeated by pushing or pulling them into burning lava pits or deadly spiked walls.

While staying accessible through the limited amount of actions a player can take, the core of ENYO are highly tactical turn based battles. To enter the highscore leaderboards for each of the 3 game modes you are tasked to master your weapons and create powerful chain combos through clever maneuvers.

I want to like this game. I really want to like this game. It appears to have a very engaging strategy to it. However, the rules are very opaque, and apparently inconsistent. Sometimes when you shield bash, you take the place of the enemy, sometimes you're one tile before. When new enemies arise, there is no explanation for their behavior, demanding a lot of trial-and-error. All of this would be fine if you didn't have to start all the levels over every time you die.

Very fun tactical game, if you like hoplite you'll enjoy this. The control interface is troublesome though, i find myself wishing for single click placement instead of sliding for move distance/location - is error prone with clumsy fingers and hard to actually see the target square when finger is still on the screen. Regardless, this is excellent and the mechanics and procedurally generated levels are great!

The odds are against you, so this game rewards slow, careful play and strategic thinking. Awareness of the entire field of play is a must; getting fixated on one single enemy will usually cause you to lose or get into a difficult situation. Overall, highly recommended for tactical and strategic gameplay. Update: I've been playing expert mode for several weeks and I believe that the Frogger enemy is unfairly overpowered. Need to eliminate the bash or broken floor attacks; enemy is too versatile.
